At the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) we exist to educate the next generation of veterinarians by providing exceptional veterinary care and service to the community every day. This work unit exists to provide administration and direction of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and provide a support facility for service to the general public and referring veterinarians.

Position Summary
Veterinary Receptionist at the Veterinarian Teaching Hospital provides excellent customer service to our clients and are the first and last contact with our customers. This is a temporary 9-month administrative position with little to no animal handling. Our department is responsible for providing excellent customer service by answering the phones, checking in/out clients, and other admin tasks as assigned. Priority will be given to applicants who have veterinary background (clinic, terminology, etc.) and/or experience. This position will be given a monthly set schedule which will depend on the hospital needs for coverage. We are looking for someone who is flexible and willing to cover weekly daytime, weekend shifts, holidays, and including after-hour shifts as needed. The front desk operates from 6:30am – 12am, 7 days a week including weekends and holiday days. This position will need to have flexibility to work any of those shifts with a preference for full availability on the weekends. A shift in this position may include:
- Enter/verify client and patient demographic information into our electronic software
- Client check in and check out for services as assigned
- Quickly assess client walk in’s and determine urgency and needs
- Answer phones and connecting with Urgent Care, Emergency or Consult lines – determined by type of call as needed
- Utilize Push to Talk phones, TEAMS application, and email technology to communicate with extended team members
- Accept payments for deposits and dismissals
- Works with extended teams as necessary to understand and explain invoices to clients
- Daily administrative tasks as assigned
Schedule/Hours: Varies with need of hospital and coverage – hospital hours of operation are Monday-Sunday, 6:30am through 12:00am, including all major holidays and days of inclement weather. Schedule will be dependent on needs and shift coverage throughout month(s) – primarily daytime shifts (6:30am – 6pm) including weekends as well as some afterhours (11am – 12am) availability required as needed.
Position Minimum Qualifications
- Seeking a self-motivated, multi-tasking, customer service focused, professional employee who possesses superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be responsible & reliable in a very fast-paced & professional environment.
- Must be able to remain calm and focused during emergent situations.
- Must commit to working at least 6 months in the position and have full availability to work as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in veterinary clinic setting (reception or clinic floor)
- Background in large or small animal husbandry

Quotes prices for services. Educates clients about the hospitals billing process and extended service areas potentially entering charges the next business day.
