Position Summary
The Veterinary Assistant will provide support to the veterinary team consisting of faculty veterinarians, residents, full-time technical staff and DVM students. This role will support daily appointments with horse handling for exams, and will assist with outpatient and surgical procedures, both elective and emergency in nature.

- Assist students and residents with barn treatments with pre op and post op surgeries including catheter placements, blood draws, sedating, injections, bandage changes
- Present horses for lameness exams- patient handling and restraint with all ages and breeds.
- Assist in surgeries – sterile prepping, setting up/cleaning and as a role in circulating nurse duties
Schedule will be Monday-Friday with intermittent need for weekend emergencies as well as the occasional late night and on-call. Variable hours, 20-30 per week.
Position Minimum Qualifications
Must have horse handling experience including education in methods for horse restraint & safety.
Preferred Qualifications
Surgical knowledge of sterile procedures and instrumentation.
