Position Summary

The Department of Clinical Sciences at Colorado State University seeks applications for a 12-month, Non-Tenure Track, Clinical Instructor, Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in Small Animal Orthopedic Surgery.

The Small Animal Orthopedic Surgery position is responsible for the orthopedic surgical management of the small animal caseload at the VTH . This faculty position will provide 30-34 weeks of clinical effort and will have responsibility for surgical consultations, performing orthopedic surgery, and teaching house officers and DVM students. This position supports an important clinical service in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital ( VTH ) both in terms of client service and revenue generation. CSU has a unique integrated service including Orthopedic Surgery, Orthopedic Medicine / Mobility, and Rehabilitation teams for comprehensive patient care and collaborative clinical research / trials.

A signing bonus of up to 10% of negotiated starting salary may be considered for successful candidates.

Required Job Qualifications

Instructor :

  • DVM or equivalent veterinary professional degree
  • Completion of an approved American College of Veterinary Surgeons ( ACVS ) or European College of Veterinary Surgeons ( ECVS ) surgical residency and eligibility to take the certification examination
  • Upon completion of achieving diplomate status, candidates will be eligible for promotion to Assistant Professor with a commensurate annualized salary increase
  • Eligibility for academic veterinary licensure in Colorado
  • Assistant Professor :

  • DVM or equivalent veterinary professional degree
  • Board certification by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons ( ACVS ) or European College of Veterinary Surgeons ( ECVS )
  • Eligibility for academic veterinary licensure in Colorado
  • Associate Professor :

  • DVM or equivalent veterinary professional degree
  • Board certification by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons ( ACVS ) or European College of Veterinary Surgeons ( ECVS )
  • 3-5 years of experience at Assistant Professor rank or equivalent in Veterinary Orthopedic Surgery
  • Eligibility for academic veterinary licensure in Colorado
  • Full Professor :

  • DVM or equivalent veterinary professional degree
  • Board certification by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons ( ACVS ) or European College of Veterinary Surgeons ( ECVS )
  • 3-5 years of experience at Associate Professor rank or equivalent in Veterinary Orthopedic Surgery
  • Eligibility for academic veterinary licensure in Colorado

  • Experience and interest in collaborative research
  • Experience in instruction of DVM students and post-graduate trainees in Veterinary Orthopedic Surgery
