Position Summary
The Department Of Mechanical Engineering At Colorado State University (CSU) Is Seeking a Research Associate In Sustainability Analysis. The Selected Individual Will Work With The Principal Investigator At CSU. The Position Is Multi-faceted And Will Include The Following
Research: The position will focus on sustainability research, emphasizing techno-economic analysis (TEA) and life cycle assessment (LCA). The successful candidate will develop engineering process models to evaluate both economic and environmental impacts in parallel. One project will center on a novel wastewater treatment system, while the second will involve developing infrastructure to assess the economics of fusion first wall materials. The role will require close collaboration with project partners, meeting technical milestones, and contributing to the broader efforts of the Quinn Lab team.
Mentoring: The position includes mentoring of graduate students in collaboration with the PI. This includes working with graduate students to achieve not only research but professional development goals.
Dissemination: Journal articles, conference publications, and internal presentations will be generated and disseminated.
This is 12 month full-time position (with appropriate benefits: healthcare, medical, dental, vision, retirement.).

Required Job Qualifications
- MS in STEM field.
- Four years years of work-related experience
- Demonstrated experience with system modeling.
- Experience with life cycle assessment and techno-economics applied to wastewater treatment.
- Experience with life cycle assessment and techno-economics applied to algal biorefining.
- Experience in water quality trading and carbon credits.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; the department will not sponsor a visa for this position.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills
