Job Summary
The Accounting Intern position will have opportunities to learn a variety of financial disciplines within Colson Group. They will assist in company-wide accounting activities including fixed assets, journal entries, account reconciliations, and process improvement. They will assist in analyzing, initiating, and implementing process improvements and reporting within the department. These demonstrated skills can then be leveraged to expand into other areas of finance and the organization.

Essential Job Functions
- Assist and perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
- Assist full-cycle accounting activities, including month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, variance analysis, etc.
- Special projects may include assisting accounting platform conversions, supporting accounts payable, or accounting records cleanup.
- Assist with annual and state audit preparations.
- Document current accounting processes to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Learn, document, and improve processes utilizing the ERP system and Microsoft Office tools.
- Abide by all policies and procedures.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
- Currently pursuing a degree in accounting, finance or similar.
- Accounting certification(s) desired.
- Experience in leveraging Microsoft Office applications, including Excel skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Efficient organization and clear and concise presentation skills.
- Decision making abilities commensurate with job responsibilities.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure.
- High attention to detail.
