AI & Machine Learning Accounting Intern

Position Summary:

Gemini Accounting Services offers an unpaid internship for students or recent graduates passionate about applying AI/ML technologies in accounting. This role provides hands-on experience supporting the development and integration of machine learning tools for bookkeeping automation, tax analytics, and client-facing financial solutions. Interns will collaborate with experienced professionals, gain exposure to real-world accounting workflows, and contribute to cutting-edge projects under mentorship.

Key Learning Opportunities & Responsibilities:

• Assist in developing and testing machine learning models for transaction categorization, ledger automation, and financial data reconciliation.
• Support the team in refining predictive tax planning models using historical datasets and statistical analysis.
• Participate in data preparation, cleaning, and analysis for tax resolution analytics and compliance projects.
• Help document AI/ML workflows and contribute to user guides for internal accounting tools.
• Shadow senior staff to learn how AI solutions align with accounting standards, IRS regulations, and client needs.
• Collaborate with developers and accountants to troubleshoot model inaccuracies and improve system efficiency.
• Attend training sessions on Python, TensorFlow, and cloud platforms for accounting-specific AI applications.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing (or recently completed) a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML, Accounting, or a related field.
• Foundational coursework or projects in Python, SQL, or machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Basic understanding of data analytics and interest in accounting/finance applications.
• Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn technical and accounting concepts.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with financial datasets or bookkeeping principles (through coursework or prior internships).
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud) or data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI).
• Interest in developing client-facing AI tools or user-friendly dashboards.

Internship Details:

• Duration: 3–6 months (flexible start/end dates).
• Hours: 15–20 hours/week (schedule adjustable for academic commitments).
• Compensation: Unpaid, but eligible for academic credit (if approved by your institution).
