Position Overview:
The Executive Director will serve as the chief executive officer, responsible for the strategic, operational, and financial leadership of CBVC. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will lead efforts to strengthen and expand fundraising initiatives, grow direct donations, enhance the organization’s public presence, and ensure financial sustainability. This role prioritizes candidates with a deep understanding of veterans’ issues, The ideal candidate will also bring expertise in working with local government agencies, counseling, mental health, and collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Drive the organization’s vision and strategy to achieve sustainable growth and increased impact.
- Represent the organization at public events, with key stakeholders, and in media engagements to elevate visibility.
- Fundraising and Development:
- Design and execute innovative fundraising campaigns to significantly grow individual, corporate, and foundation giving.
- Cultivate relationships with high-value donors and partners to secure major gifts and long-term commitments.
- Lead grant-writing efforts and oversee reporting requirements for funders.
- Financial Management:
- Develop and oversee the organization’s budget, ensuring sound fiscal management and transparency.
- Monitor and report financial performance to the Board, making data-driven recommendations.
- Identify opportunities to diversify revenue streams and reduce operational costs without compromising program quality.
- Program and Service Oversight:
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality programs addressing veterans’ mental health, counseling, and reintegration challenges.
- Build and strengthen partnerships with the VA, local government agencies, and other service providers to enhance program reach and effectiveness.
- Advocate for veterans’ needs at the local, state, and national levels.
- Collaboration with Government and Stakeholders:
- Act as a liaison with local government agencies to secure funding, coordinate services, and align community resources.
- Engage with policymakers and community leaders to advocate for improved services and opportunities for veterans.
- Marketing and Communications:
- Develop and implement a robust marketing and branding strategy to enhance the organization’s public profile.
- Oversee the creation of impactful messaging and materials to engage donors, veterans, and the community.
- Strengthen digital presence through social media, email campaigns, and website optimization.
- Board and Staff Leadership:
- Work closely with the Board of Directors to set strategic priorities and achieve organizational goals.
- Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing team of staff and volunteers.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a role within the nonprofit or philanthropic sector.
- Demonstrated success in building and managing sizable fundraising initiatives, including direct donations, major gifts, and corporate sponsorships.
- Proven expertise in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Strong marketing and branding experience, with a track record of increasing organizational visibility and engagement.
- Extensive experience working with veterans, particularly in counseling, mental health, or reintegration services.
- Familiarity with local government operations, funding processes, and community partnerships.
- Strong familiarity with the VA system, benefits, and programs.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire confidence and build lasting relationships.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Military service with combat or overseas deployment experience preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated personal connection to or deep understanding of the veteran community.
- Experience working with local government agencies to secure funding, implementing programs, or advocating for resources.
- Advanced degree in nonprofit management, business administration, counseling, or a related field.
Compensation:
This is a full-time, senior-level position offering a competitive salary, commensurate with experience.
Salary Range:
$65,000-$100,000 Depending on qualifications and experience
Relocation support in the form of a relocation bonus may be offered
Paid Time off
Position currently does not currently offer medical or retirement benefits beyond those required by the state of Washington.
