JOB SUMMARY:
The role of the College Supervisor is vital in the development of a high-quality teacher preparation program. As a liaison agent representing the Office of Field Experiences, the College Supervisor will observe (virtually and/or in person), evaluate, and confer with Teacher Candidates and their Cooperating Teachers. This collegial team facilitates the planning, implementation, and evaluation of experiences that will increase the professional competence of the Teacher Candidate. There are opportunities for adjunct College Supervisors throughout the state as our Teacher Candidates are placed in various districts over South Carolina.
Columbia College is seeking adjunct College Supervisors to support Teacher Candidates during their field experience. A Master's degree in Education with at least five years of teaching experience is highly preferred, but not required. Priority will be given to applicants with formal mentor training and experience and/or SCTS 4.0 Evaluators. College Supervisors are expected to adhere to all college policies and procedures, uphold the mission and values of Columbia College.
JOB LOCATION:
Supervision within the state of South Carolina through Columbia College - Columbia, South Carolina
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Completes all orientation and training with the Office of Field Experiences including but not limited to SCTS 4.0 Evaluator training.
- Meets with teacher candidates as required for support throughout the experience.
- Conducts and completes required documentation for in person and/or virtual observations following the POP Cycle required by the SDE.
- Availability during school hours is required, face to face or virtual.
- Provides Cooperating Teachers with an orientation of the field experience.
- Actively participates in seminar/professional development for field one and field two.
- Maintains consistent, ongoing communication with the College Field Supervisor.
- Completes necessary grading of assignments and evaluation forms, and submission of Midterm and Final grades.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
- Bachelor's degree plus 18 hours of graduate credit.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in the area(s) of certification.
- Must have current South Carolina Department of Education Teaching Certification.
- Preference may be given to applicants with prior college teaching experience and familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Canvas.
- Must have some familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.

- Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.
- Ability to meet schedules and timelines.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; excellent interpersonal skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires sedentary work that involves walking, standing, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling some of the time and requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and the ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis or routine keyboard operations.
