Position Summary: We are looking for a dynamic and driven service salesperson to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for generating new business, estimating project costs, and providing top-tier customer service. If you are a proactive communicator with a passion for sales and an interest in making a difference in a critical industry, we want to hear from you!

The service salesperson requires an understanding of fire sprinkler systems and the ability to assess complex deficiencies and price their repair. This is not a deficiency sales desk job, but rather an expectation to relationally visit mostly existing customers, take them to lunch, bring them company SWAG, and solve their problems. As they have repairs or improvements, we want them to call you directly because they know your face. You will walk the project with them, price the solution, and then coordinate with the superintendent to schedule the approved work. When not actively pricing opportunities, visit existing customers (and some new potential customers) solidifying the relationship. Example projects to price would be fire pump replacements/upgrades, full system upgrades, head replacements, tenant improvements, pipe replacements, system conversions, etc.

Position requires either fire sprinkler field or design/engineering experience to be able to price the work needed. This sales role is not a bargaining unit position.

This position is currently only pricing fire sprinklers, but eventually we will have fire alarm, low voltage, wet/dry chemical fire suppression and clean agent/special hazards divisions. The ability to sell all types of service work is not required but highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales Generation: Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities within the fire protection industry.
  • Customer Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs, and offering tailored fire protection solutions. This includes face-to-face visits with customers and potential job sites.
  • Estimating & Proposals: Accurately estimate project costs, prepare detailed proposals, and present them to clients in a compelling manner.
  • Market Analysis: Stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and market dynamics within the assigned territory.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, designers, and installation teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Sales Reporting: Maintain a robust sales pipeline, regularly reporting on progress, and participating in sales meetings to discuss strategies and goals.
  • All Revenue Streams: Preferred candidate has the knowledge, experience, and understanding to price any type of fire sprinkler work including but not limited to: new installation (commercial and residential), remodel/improvement, service/repair, and inspection/testing.

Qualifications:

  • Sales Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in sales is required, with a preference for experience in fire protection, life safety, or building services industries.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Fire Protection Industry Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in understanding fire sprinkler systems, their design, the ability to look at tenant improvement/remodel drawings from a general contractor and understand required pipe sizing and sprinkler spacing without assistance is required.
  • I.T. Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) is required.
  • Customer-Centric: A strong commitment to customer satisfaction and the ability to understand and meet client needs.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with various teams to deliver the best possible service to our clients.
  • Valid Driver’s License: Must possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to undergo post-offer drug screening and background check. Visiting customer facilities in your own vehicle (reimbursed through a weekly vehicle allowance) is a critical part of this role; this is not only a behind the desk job.

Why You'll Love Working Here: At Columbia Fire, we prioritize our employees' well-being and growth. We foster a culture of trust, innovation, and continuous improvement. You will have the opportunity to make a significant impact in an industry that truly matters.
