Monitors current preventive maintenance programs.
- Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
- Monitor’s maintenance purchasing to maintain repair parts for inventory at an adequate level without overstocking or running out.
- Recruits, hires, trains, and directs maintenance team with an objective of continuously improving the quality and professionalism of work performed and personnel involved.
- Respond to team members questions, concerns, and ideas. Serve as a coach to the team.
- Assist in preparation of department budget and monitor expenditure of funds in budget.
- Disposal of materials in proper manner.
- Knowledge in conforming to all local, state, and federal codes.
- PPE- must wear Safety Glasses, ear plugs, and area/job function appropriate gloves.
- Follows company policy and stays abreast of changes.
- Ability to lift at minimum of 50 lbs. Occasional exertions of 100lbs. of force.
- Additional duties assigned.
- Assist in creating and maintaining a safe work environment.
- Works with others to identify, eliminate, reduce, or control safety hazards.
- LOTO and other plant specific trainings to keep oneself safe must be done.
- Take steps to ensure that every job is safe and completed to the latest workplace safety regulations, laws, and requirements. Faulty work can cause an injury.
- Responsible for promoting and maintaining quality of workmanship and for ensuring that quality is taught to all team members.
- Responsibility for errors.
- Responsibility for department/shift maintenance and therefor will assume responsibility for errors in maintenance, downtime, safety, and cost.
- High School Diploma or GED required. Recommended degree in Engineering (Electrical and/or Mechanical) with at least 5 years’ experience or the equivalent sufficient.
- Basic knowledge of the entire process for manufacturing hardwood plywood.
- Detailed knowledge of process equipment.
- Problem solve and engage necessary staff/team leads to address emerging facility or equipment issues.
- Working knowledge of safety standards of equipment.
- Entry level computer experience. (ERP system, excel, word, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of wood species and production requirements.
- Problem-solving skills
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- General knowledge in repairs of machinery, installation, modification, and maintenance of plumbing fixtures in heating, water, and drainage systems.
- General knowledge of maintenance/grounds equipment operation, maintenance, and repair.
- Ability to plan for projects, shutdowns, design changes knowledge.
- Technical skills to include mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic.
- Ability to work independently without supervision and meet tight deadlines.
- Sound judgement and decision capabilities.
- Work in a team environment.
