We are currently seeking a Human Resource Generalist who will report to the Vice President for Administration and Director of Human Resources. The Human Resource Generalist will provide professional support to the daily operations of the Human Resource Office with an emphasis on recruitment, onboarding, search process coordination, compliance training and other related duties that will enhance the functions of the department.
Duties And Responsibilities
Annual 12-month salary range $58-62K will be commensurate with experience. The Opportunity

Duties And Responsibilities
- Assists the director in developing, administering, and communicating HR policies, procedures, and directives; maintains knowledge of current trends in the HR field, new and innovative human resource programs, and services within higher education, and of employment law updates.
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of finance and human resource files and records.
- Manages the recruitment and selection of all college staff, including placement of employment posting with outside external sources, communicating with applicants, supporting search committees, maintaining search summaries, and final decisions while building positive, collaborative partnerships among business units to communicate a holistic approach to talent acquisition.
- Manages the development and continued improvement of the onboarding and orientation process for new hires, while managing the on-and-off boarding life cycle while supporting the campuses performance management, training and professional development efforts.
- Works closely with broker of record with onboarding of employee (and retirees) benefit programs, including dissemination of information, enrollment, education, and wellness.
- Partners with Payroll Officer to ensure changes to employment data are reconciled, leave accruals meet ADA, FMLA and other leave laws and all are documented, reported and requirements are met.
- Reviews and reconciles monthly insurance invoices and ensures accuracy in employee benefit portal, for 1095C processing.
- Prepares annual requisitions for monthly insurances and/or other department invoices.
- Assists in the maintenance and tracking of employee annual development and performance plans.
- Prepares and maintains the training compliance platform and assigns appropriate content accordingly.
- Assists in the development of new and current job descriptions, in collaboration with department directors and union representatives, including preparation of materials for the College Board of Trustees and for SUNY approval.
- Serves on college committees by nature of position, IDEA, Professional Development and Health Matters.
- Streamlines internal human resources processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
- Assists the Administration Office with preparation of annual audits.
- Assists in the planning of retirement seminars with approved SUNY vendors.
- Assists Director with annual reporting to civil service, PESH, and other agencies.
- Serves as back up for payroll processing and retirement reporting, and other related duties.
- Other duties as required to support department and institutional goals and as assigned by the VP of Administration and Director, which may include new projects, evolving responsibilities, or special assignments as necessary.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or related field with at least three years of progressive human resources experience. HR Certification a plus.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of human resource practices, employment law and regulations, including civil service law in a unionized environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication and people management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing priorities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems, tech-savvy with other HR software, MS Office Suite, and/or related software.
