Position Summary
Reporting to the Associate Director of Faculty and Human Resources in the Department of Biostatistics at the Mailman School of Public Health, the Coordinator for Faculty and Human Resources will support faculty and human resources functions of the Department of Biostatistics.
Responsibilities
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience; plus 3 years of related experience.
The successful incumbent will have strong interpersonal skills and be self-motivated and driven to success with a proactive approach to work. Outstanding organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must. The incumbent must be customer-service oriented and possess the confidence and ability to work with all levels of faculty and staff. The individual in this role must be extremely detail-oriented; be able to exercise discretion and sound judgment in dealing with confidential employment matters and information; be able to manage multiple assignments with competing deadlines while maintaining accuracy and efficiency; be able to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting; and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is also required.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous work in a higher education environment is preferred for this role.

Position Summary
Reporting to the Associate Director of Faculty and Human Resources in the Department of Biostatistics at the Mailman School of Public Health, the Coordinator for Faculty and Human Resources will support faculty and human resources functions of the Department of Biostatistics.
Responsibilities
- Handle recruiting responsibilities including entering open positions in the TalentLink website, posting positions on external job board sites, updating applicant statuses, completing hiring proposals, and tracking time to fill positions;
- Assist with coordination of prospective faculty recruitment interviews/visits;
- Ensure that faculty, staff and student appointees are appropriately onboarded with a seamless experience, including serving as point of contact with a strong focus on keeping the appointee informed, completing requisite paperwork, completing Template Based Hire via University systems, scheduling welcome programs, and other related duties;
- Manage the hiring and processing of adjunct faculty and teaching assistant appointments and reappointments. Assist Director of Academic Programs in TA recruitment process.
- Process Personnel Action Forms (PAFs) for all assigned employee transactions including pay increases, promotions, title changes, internal transfers, part-time faculty appointment renewals, terminations, medical/personal leaves, etc., and ensuring information is accurately processed in the PeopleSoft/PAC (People @ Columbia) system;
- Process support staff and short-term casual payroll timesheets;
- Manage internal documents and tracking systems to ensure information is up-to-date and accurate;
- Work collaboratively with the Associate Director of F/HR, MSPH central F/HR office and Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) Payroll to address and resolve employee changes/updates;
- Coordinate Department space, including occupancy, renovations and equipment usage and inventory.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate personnel/appointment records and recruitment logs.
- Process short-term visitors using JIRA as needed.
- Manage space reservations within department and other areas across MSPH and the Medical Center;
- Assist department in logistics of summer educational programs, admissions related-activites such as open house, information sessions, orientation, and similar events.
- Performing other assignments, projects & responsibilities as needed and assigned.
