Compensation : $39.50 / hour
Position Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Student Affairs, High School & Non Degree Programs, the incumbent performs a variety of tasks to support the Pre-College Programs at the School of Professional Studies. Resident Directors will be responsible for the management of the residential experience for Session A and Session B of Columbia Universitys Pre-College Programs. The Resident Directors will provide administrative oversight of all programming and community building taking place in the residence halls, as well as, ensuring student safety and supervision. Additionally, this role will be tasked with upholding university policies and protocols related to student conduct, protection of minors, and health & wellness (including COVID-19 campus protocols).
Responsibilities
- Directly supervises and mentors (4-5) Senior RAs who live and work in your designated building and indirectly supervises summer intern staff.
- Manages 1 residence hall of roughly 500 high school students attending Columbias Pre-College n Programs over the course of (2) three-week sessions.
- Implements community-wide COVID-19 safety protocols in the residence halls and manages COVID-19 related student issues in consultation with the Assistant Director of Student Affairs, High School & Non-Degree Programs.
- Manages the intern on-call duty rotation and serves as a member of the director rotation in responding to emergency / crisis situations.
- In conjunction with the Director and Assistant Director of Student Affairs, assists in the administering of the student conduct process.
- Oversees building preparation for move-in and move-out to ensure a seamless transition from session to session.
- Maintains a positive relationship with Housing to ensure program needs are met and issues are addressed tactfully and effectively.
- Tracks the student check-in and check-out process as it relates to curfew and student safety to ensure the program administration has all students safe and accounted for at all times.
- Participates and presents in all facets of staff training.
- Conducts weekly one on ones with the Senior RAs to identify issues and trends and collaboratively design solutions.
- Manage daily administrative processes and maintenance / custodial priorities.
