What are the responsibilities and job description for the Front Desk Receptionist position at ColumbiaDoctors Tarrytown?
ColumbiaDoctors is one of the largest multi-specialty practices in the northeast and is affiliated with world renowned Columbia University Irving Medical Center and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. ColumbiaDoctors is currently looking for a Practice Associate for our Tarrytown location.
The Practice Associate will be assigned to provide coverage for the Tarrytown, NY ColumbiaDoctors office at 155 White Plains Road, Tarrytown NY. Hours and days may be variable Monday through Friday 7am to 7pm and occasional Saturdays. Job duties include (but are not limited to):
- Greeting and interacting with patients in a courteous and professional manner
- Accurately checking patients in, collecting, updating and verifying patient demographic and insurance information in practice management system/EMR
- Collecting referrals and ensuring accuracy of information on referral forms
- Performing insurance eligibility and verification as needed
- Collection of and posting payments to Epic, daily reconciliation of the cash drawer
- Recording patient preferred Pharmacy in EMR
- Sending Patient Portal invitations and assisting patients with account creation
- Make follow up and diagnostic appointments upon check out
- Scheduling lab appointments as needed
- Interacting with other departments and facilities to help schedule follow up care, providing patient with appointment card and all necessary instructions to ensure a smooth follow up visit
- Accurately scanning information into EMR (including but not limited to insurance card, referrals, registration forms, outside records, etc)
- Coordinating all clerical aspects of patient flow during the practice session
- Interacting with clinical support staff and providers to ensure a smooth and timely flow of patients through the office
- Exercising skill in prioritizing assignments in order to complete work in a timely manner when there are changes in workload, assignments, and pressures of deadlines, competitive requirements and/or a heavy workload
- Maintenance of a cooperative and professional relationship with physicians, nurses, office and clinical staff
- Checking messages and following up with patients in a timely manner
- Handling mail, incoming facsimile documents and requests for medical records
- Facilitating physician and patient administrative needs
- Is knowledgeable of Columbia University procedures protocol
- Completes other duties and special projects as assigned
- Conforms to all applicable HIPAA, billing compliance and safety guidelines
Experience/Requirements
- HS Diploma Required. Bachelor’s degree helpful.
- 3 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of Epic preferred.
- Possess knowledge of modern medical office equipment, systems and procedures
- Ability to work independently and takes initiative to improve overall office operations
- Excellent communication/customer service
- Ability to adjust daily to different services and medical staff needs, process, and clinic flow
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.60 - $26.92 per hour
