Position Overview
Provides strategic direction and oversees execution of activities and strategies related to school social work, attendance, barriers to engagement and other district wide climate/culture initiatives related to the development of the Whole Child. The Director of Whole Child Community Partnerships will execute a systemic multi-tiered framework that anchors early intervention and prevention, promotes daily attendance and reinforces the importance of identifying and mitigating barriers to daily attendance through intentional community partnerships that reinforce the importance of creating successful outcomes for students.

- Ensure that the overall vision and direction of the Department of Whole Child Community Partnerships is aligned with district strategic priorities, goals and guardrails
- Develop and implement departmental goals, policies and procedures; revise work systems and processes as necessary to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Office of Whole Child Supports
- Ensure programs and services are delivered through a culturally responsive framework and Whole Child lens
- Collaborate with central office and school-based staff on the creation, implementation, and refinement of system-wide guidance, protocols, interventions, strategies, and supports that advance the work of the Office of Whole Child Supports
- Monitor program delivery and ensure the implementation of evidence-based models related to the Whole Child framework and other areas managed
- Lead the development and implementation of a cross-functional system that increases the capacity of the district to focus on attendance awareness and education
- Collaborate with central office departments and school-based data teams to ensure the availability of timely, relevant, and user-friendly attendance data that can be analyzed by patterns and trends
- Oversee programs, services and community partnerships related to student supports including Restorative Practices and Trauma Informed Care.
- Collaborate within the Office of Whole Child Supports to ensure the delivery of district level crisis response
- Build the capacity of schools to implement HB410 with fidelity, and develop effective attendance intervention teams and implement attendance plans
- Collaborate with the Division of EMIS and Department of Student Services to create reports
- Maintain engagement and collaboration with mental health and other community partners to develop and support student and family services
- Ensure regular professional development provided on relevant topics related to the department
- Represents the department’s vision to internal and external stakeholders
- Maintain department budget and relevant fiscal responsibilities
- Monitor assigned functions to ensure compliance with related regulatory requirements and district standards
- Provide reports and presentations related to department work to the Chief, Superintendent, School Board, and others as needed
- Cultivate partnerships with community organizations and government agencies to promote attendance, student engagement, and meet the needs of students & families
- Collaborate with district-level departments to ensure the integration of attendance strategies with other bodies of work, including: communications; early childhood education; engagement; ESL; enrollment; teaching & learning; SEL; PBIS, and special education.
- Maintain knowledge of current and emerging trends, research and evidence-based practices related to the areas managed
- Interpret, analyze, and apply knowledge of behavior and academic data in order to craft a holistic response to student support needs
- Ensure fidelity of the school social work program
- Manage employees assigned to the division, including Supervisor of Social Work, Attendance Specialists, support staff and others, to include goal setting, performance management, and evaluation as appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned by Executive Director of Whole Child Supports
- Master’s degree in education, behavior sciences, social work, counseling, or related field
- Five (5) to Seven (7) years of relevant experience in an educational environment or related field
- Experience managing full-time employees
- Valid Ohio Department of Education Administrator certificate or willing to pursue Alternative Administrative License
- Understanding of the practices and processes that support student attendance and engagement, social emotional development, and other aspects of multi-tiered systems of supports work together to maximize the effectiveness of these initiatives.
- Working knowledge of state and federal laws and rules that impact the work of the team.
- Demonstrated ability to self-direct, self-manage, and direct the work of others
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with MS Office, Google Apps, Zoom, and other relevant software
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills
- Ability to prioritize and organize tasks
- Effective, thoughtful team member with excellent leadership skills, and ability to collaborate, inspire, inform, and serve
- Possess an understanding of the social conditions that impact student learning and achievement
