What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2018-19 Part-time Hourly Latchkey Teacher position at Columbus City Schools?
The Latchkey Teacher is responsible for the following job duties:
- Daily operation of program which includes, but is not limited to, the following tasks; ensuring the safety of the students, taking attendance, collecting parent fees, writing and implementing lesson plans, dealing with discipline problems or other concerns immediately and appropriately, and informing the Latchkey Office of any unusual events.
- Completing paperwork by the due dates such as pay-ins done every MONDAY with all corresponding paperwork sent to the appropriate places, sign-in sheets (in their entirety) completed and copies sent to the Latchkey office, copies of all childcare notices / authorization letters sent to office as received, post all schedules such as snack schedule, bus schedule, daily schedule, etc, payroll sent to office by scheduled dates, and copies of all registrations forms sent to office as new students enroll. Failing to complete required weekly paper work may result in your contract being non-renewed for the following year. Any payroll sheets not received by required due date will not be paid that pay period. The employee will have to wait until the next pay period in order to get paid.
- Attendance – teachers must report on time to both the morning and afternoon sessions. Work hours are 7:00-9:00 a.m. and 3:00-6:00 p.m.
- Prepare all state requirements such as postings and state notebook, as outlined in orientation packet. Practice fire and tornado drills monthly and document these drills.
- Remain current in the following required in-services: First Aid, Child Abuse, Communicable Disease and CPR. Send copies of in-services to the Latchkey Office.
- Remain in the Latchkey area at all times. If you must leave the area, notify other Latchkey staff and return promptly.
- Move around the area constantly. Do not remain seated for a long period of time. Please practice good judgment in this area.
- You are required to stay with a late child in the morning (late bus) or evening (late parent) until the child is picked up by the proper person. A late parent must pay $1.00 for every minute they are late per family. You must split this fee with your Instructional Assistant if he/she stays also.
- Keep any medications locked up in the school office. Follow medication guidelines when/if administering medication.
- Use the time between 3:00 – 3:25 p.m. to meet with your Instructional assistant to discuss the daily activities, share lesson plans, answer questions, etc.
- Assist your Instructional Assistant in the set up and clean up of snack and Center activities.
- Complete any and all forms as needed (discipline report, injury, etc.) and send copies to the Latchkey office.
