POSITION SUMMARY: The Columbus City School District is accepting
applications for the position of Literacy Intervention Teacher. This role requires a wide range of skills
that must be continuously cultivated through ongoing professional
development. The individual selected is
responsible for ensuring learning experiences are consistent with the mission
statement and instructional goals of the district. The process of selective
interviewing will be used.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Valid
Ohio Teaching certification/licensure

Elementary
(1-8) (4-9)
o
Experience
with and knowledge of state standards, instructional pedagogy and strategies

Interpersonal
skills necessary to communicate effectively and work productively with the
administrative team, staff, students, and parents
·
A
minimum of three years of successful teaching experience
·
Demonstrated
ability to handle challenging situations in a tactful, courteous and respectful
manner
·
Strong
written and verbal communication skills
·
Demonstrate
ability to develop and maintain collegial, cooperative relations with students,
parents, and administrative staff

Sophisticated
sense of how to use multiple data sources to diagnose and intervene to address
and plan for student instructional needs

skills in reading/math pedagogy, content and strategies

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
· Provide direct literacy intervention to students
· Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the teaching of literacy, child growth and development, effective instructional strategies on evidence-based literacy instructional practices
· Monitors student achievement and progress toward instructional goals and objectives of the building
· Enroll in coursework or training and successfully complete assignments as required based on the building level literacy intervention programs
· Support the implementation Ohio’s Learning Standards
· Support the school-wide literacy program
· Analyze and promote the use of assessment data for small group instructional planning and student achievement
· Utilize effective, research-based methodologies and practices
· Serve on building leadership team and teacher based teams
· Integrate technology
· Maintains current knowledge of best practices, trends and new developments in reading and math
· Works cooperatively with teachers and MTSS team, and others to implement various initiatives to increase academic success and ensure students are able to achieve their appropriate grade level;
· Performs all other duties as assigned by CCS Administration that are permissible under Title I guidelines
NOTE: Funding for this position is contingent upon the availability of Title I funding.
