What are the responsibilities and job description for the Windsor Site-Based Coordinator (Windsor) position at Columbus City Schools?
The Site-Based Coordinator facilitates and provides leadership related
to the coordination of family interventions, programs and services at Windsor
STEM relative to academic learning, youth development/school climate,
parent/family engagement and support, increase two way communication with
families, health and social services, and community partnerships/programs. The Coordinator works under the day-to-day
direction of the School Principal to coordinate, align, and enhance school- and
community-resources to support student learning and well-being, family
stability, school success, and a strong neighborhood. Key tasks include:
1.
Support the School Community Improvement Process
a.
Foster an expanded school improvement planning
process that builds upon and strengthens the annual school improvement planning
process in place at Windsor
i.
Participates as a member of the Building
Leadership Team (BLT) from the lens of improving two-way communication with
Windsor families.
ii.
Participate on Windsor Youth Collaborative and
assist with integrating priorities and strengthening the school and community
supports.
iii.
Participate on the Linden Collaborative Advisory
Council
iv.
Connect overall efforts with the Linden Plan and
related neighborhood development priorities
b.
Lead needs and resources assessments to identify
and respond to top priority family needs
i.
Seek input from teachers, school staff,
students, parents/caregivers, and community members to determine needs of
students and families.
ii.
Examine data (i.e., behavioral data, SEL data,
census data, etc.) to drive family interventions, school-wide planning, and
resource development.
iii.
Map all programs/services by the 5 pathways and
three tiers to explore resource gaps and needs
c.
Cultivate partnerships, build relationships, and
develop resources to address top priority needs in the school community.
2.
Coordinate School-Community Partnerships
a.
Build and strengthen partnerships with others in
the community (i.e., faith-based community, members of the Windsor Youth
Collaborative, etc.) to respond to top priority needs
b.
Work to align and integrate programs and
services offered by individual partners for kids and families through weekly
meetings with partners in building.
i.
Connect programs/services provided by partners
to classrooms (and teachers)
c.
Facilitate communication and build relationships
among community partners, key stakeholders, and volunteers; and represent the
school to civic and community groups
i.
Create quarterly newsletter
d.
Provide administrative structure and support to
improve out-of-school time offerings for Windsor children and families
i.
Foster improvements for current out-of-school
time programming (i.e., St. Stephen’s aftercare program, etc.)
ii.
Provide oversight to new aftercare programming
offered with new grant dollars from United Way investments.
iii.
Lead overall efforts to engage more students and
families in in school and out-of-school time programming

Help create and maintain Family Resource Center
at Windsor which provides resources and referral/linkage to parents/caregivers

Engage parents/caregivers in the Family Resource
Center

Oversee parent/caregiver incentive system for
resource distribution.
3.
Develop partnerships for continued donations and
new programming/services.
ii.
Respond to emergency referrals for resources from
school staff and community providers.
iii.
Link families to appropriate community agencies
and resources.

Engagement Activities with Others
i.
Collaborate with Cathy Tolbert (CCS/Windsor
Family Consultant)
1.
Coordinate and support family engagement events
in the school community.
2.
Support creation and distribution of parent/caregiver
communications.
ii.
Assist School Social Worker with external
outreach to parents/caregivers (e.g. home visits) and provide case
management/coordination supports to families as needed.
iii.
Strengthen the engagement of volunteers to support students and families
