Responsible for operating landfill scales, zero-turn lawn mower, tractor with bush hog attached, hydro seeder, weed eater, and various hand tools. Responsible for assisting in the maintenance of buildings on site that include the scale house area, and multiple storage buildings. Responsible for assisting in the installation and maintenance of storm water control structures including silt fence, down drains, seeding, mulching, and check dams. Assists customers with questions and concerns and maintains radio contact with landfill personnel. Assists in the transportation of inmates to and from work sites and Muscogee County Prison. Carries out a continuous effort to improve operations, work processes, and works cooperatively and jointly to provide continuous improvement and customer-driven service. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of lawn equipment and hand tools. Knowledge in operating grounds maintenance equipment to include zero turn lawn mower, weed eater, hydro seeder, tractor and hand tools.Knowledge of erosion and sedimentation best management practices. Knowledge of federal and state regulations concerning the operation of a landfill. Knowledge of backing up a truck and trailer. Skill in planting grass. Skill in managing and supervising inmate laborers. Skill in problem-solving and decision making. Skill in oral and written communication.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, bending, crouching, walking, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and must be able to distinguish between shades of color.
