Columbus Instruments is looking for a motivated and curious Assembly Technician seeking an opportunity to learn and grow. We manufacture instrumentation for monitoring behavior and physiology in lab animals as well as instrumentation for Environmental Research. Our products are sold all around the world. Job Summary
Build, assemble, test and QC electronic and mechanical components for instrumentation used for life science, metabolic and environmental research. The position applies knowledge of electronics and mechanical principles while building equipment and provides support to all areas of manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Perform system electrical and pneumatic testing in accordance with applicable documentation to validate complete system function.
- Confirm system is in compliance with build document; perform Quality Control check and document QC process.
- Mechanical assembly and assembly of front and rear panel components, shelves, and electronic boxes.
- Use basic hand tools and machine tools for assembly of electro-mechanical parts.
- Use a multi-meter for testing cables and low voltage signals.
- Use a soldering iron for both cable and PCB (through-hole and surface mount) assembly.
- Pack orders.

Qualifications
- 2 years' experience as an Assembly Technician.
- Electronic or Specialized Technical Education a plus.
- Understanding of electronics.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with hand tools and power tools.
- Electronic testing and trouble-shooting skills.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including blueprints and schematics.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing production needs.
- Ability to occasionally lift and move 50 pounds.
