Job Title: Catalog Librarian (40hr./Exempt/Full-time)
Location: Gahanna Operations Center
Starting Pay Range: $50,564.80 - $85,321.60 annually (commensurate with experience)

About the Position:
As a Catalog Librarian, you will perform complex cataloging and classification for all formats under limited supervision. You will serve as a cataloging subject matter expert for the department; including but not limited to special collections, cataloging priorities, and testing software.
Assigned Shift
- Monday - Friday 7:30am -4:00pm (some flexibility)
What You’ll Do:
- Performs complex copy cataloging using MARC and classification for all formats. Includes searching on OCLC, editing using AACR2/RDA, importing records, editing records in ILS.
- Catalogs and classifies titles in all formats that are not in OCLC nor ILS (original cataloging). Includes determining subject content and appropriate subject headings, assigning Dewey number and cutter, adding MARC record to OCLC and importing record to online catalog, requiring a knowledge of the content of the collection(s), an ability to generalize and interpret subject content and requiring a thorough understanding of the scope, authority, arrangement and format of various reference tools, cataloging rules and systems of bibliographic notation and format.
- Updates bibliographic records in the database including modifying call numbers, adding subject headings and correcting primary fields.
- Assists with special projects, as needed, such as testing software, cataloging special collections, etc.
- Assists manager with developing processes to conform to local, consortial and national standards, improving internal processes.
- Manages daily workflow and directs staff in cataloging priorities.
- Leads training of new staff/catalogers and provides ongoing training on current trends, best practices and new technologies.
- Keeps abreast of developments within the profession.
- Assumes responsibility for the operation of the department in the absence of a manager.
- Performs additional duties as assigned including serving on task forces, committees, etc.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master of Library Science degree required.
- 1-3 years’ previous experience in MARC cataloging.
- Ability to make sound decisions within stated guidelines.
- Ability to use appropriate judgment in handling information and records.
- Ability to work independently with limited direction.
- Ability to operate library technology including personal computer, email, software programs (i.e. Windows/Microsoft Office) and other job-related equipment and systems.
- Ability to utilize reliable transportation to promptly report to job assignment and other locations, per job requirements.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, libraries, and residences or commercial vehicles (e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, and/or working in moderate outdoor weather conditions).
Work requires occasional lifting or pushing of up to 50 lbs. and the frequent lifting or pushing of up to 20 lbs.
Salary : $50,565 - $85,322
