What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Mechanical Rides Assistant position at Columbus Zoo Family of Parks?
Overview
Starting most mornings in Zoombezi Bay, our Rides Maintenance crew does everything from visually inspecting slides to minor repairs, cleaning and testing water quality. Bring your swimsuits for cleaning pools and testing out the fun features on our attractions like Baboon Lagoon before the park opens. If you like to know how things work, are detailed oriented and a little adventurous, you may have a future with the Rides Maintenance Team!
Responsibilities
- Performs required daily maintenance inspections on park attractions, including but not limited to zoo and dry park rides.
- Performs basic building, attraction and grounds maintenance including but not limited to electrical, painting, carpentry, mechanical and preventative maintenance activities.
- May operate equipment or motorized vehicles (e.g. drills, saws, forklift, truck, and high lifts) in performance of duties.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Posted schedule may be subject to change based on operational needs such as weather condition, guest attendance and department needs.
Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Two years related experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
- Able to operate and maintain mechanical equipment safely.
- Able to perform heavy physical work for extended periods of time.
- Able to climb ladders, work at heights up to 100 feet, and/or in enclosed spaces.
- Able to work in varied weather conditions (i.e. extreme heat, rain.)
- Able to balance multiple assignments successfully.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to provide excellent guest service by positively interacting with guests and upholding the Make it G.R.E.A.T. standards required.
- Able to maintain courteous and helpful behavior towards guests and fellow team members.
- Able to maintain appropriate employee appearance, per the employee handbook.
- Able to work flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings and holidays.
- This position is seasonal and not eligible for overtime pay.
