DEFINITION :
The Coding Manager provides operation leadership by planning, managing, and coordinating the coding activities for multi-specialty coding unit. Provide expert knowledge and analysis of payer and coding rules and regulations for both hospital and physician billing. Responsible for coordinating with clinical and administrative staff for coding related tasks. Assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and system enhancements to ensure accurate, efficient and compliant coding for medical records for billing and reporting. Provide reimbursement and coding data for reporting purposes. Analyze CMS and Medicaid regulations related to billing for hospital and multiple clinical specialties and implement processes to ensure compliance with regard to specific payer system requirements. Management duties include interviewing, selecting and training of employees; setting and adjusting hours of work; planning and directing work; appraising productivity, efficiency and quality of work; addressing complaints and grievances and performing disciplinary action to include terminations when necessary.
EDUCATION :
Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management Administration; Registered Health Information Administrator certification or Associates Degree in Health Information Management; Registered Health Information Technician certification
REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS (IF APPLICABLE) :
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management Administration; Registered Health Information Administrator certification or Associates Degree in Health Information Management; Registered Health Information Technician certification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
5 years of experience in medical coding, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role
