Who we are looking for:
This position will primarily be responsible for directing and performing industrial hygiene inspections and projects. Responsibilities will also include serving as technical lead on projects, managing clients and participating in business development activities.
What you’ll be doing:
- Conducts mold, indoor air quality, and hazardous material inspections
- Field sampling for hazardous materials assessments (e.g. asbestos, mold, lead, etc.)
- Performs inspections, assessments and sampling using various media and in various environments
- Performs asbestos abatement oversight and monitoring within a variety of settings
- Writes technical reports and proposals pertaining to industrial hygiene services
- Performs data entry, analyzes and interprets data, writes reports, and drafts maps
- Collaborates with other team members, including interacting with existing and potential clients
- Participates in business development activities such as attending industry events
- Manages clients and participates in business development activities
- Trains and advises technicians and Staff level I and II
- Accepts training and direction from Lead Scientists, Practice Leaders, Director, and Vice President
- Other duties as assigned
What you need to have:
- 5-8 years of related experience
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline or science related field of study
- AHERA training for asbestos and lead disciplines and NIOSH 582 a plus
- Familiarity with asbestos, lead, mold and other environmental regulations and compliance practices
- Proficiency with standard word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications
- Excellent communication, both oral and written
- Ability to work independently and within teams to achieve goals
- Must be detail oriented
- Ability to multi-task and meet project requirements/deadlines
- Ability to coordinate and manage support staff and projects
- Ability to receive and maintain state licenses (VA, NC, MD) for industrial hygiene disciplines
- Must be willing to participate in and pass F&R’s pre-employment screening, including a background investigation, drug screening, and driving record check
- Ability to continuously sit, stand, and walk
- Ability to perform strenuous field work including lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing on ladders and roofing systems, and entering crawl space
- Ability to work outside in frequent changes of temperatures
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach, push, and pull
- Ability to work in environments containing dust, mold, and hazardous materials with personal protective equipment
- Ability to frequently drive to and from work sites, must have valid driver’s license with good-standing driving record
- May travel overnight (less than 35%)
- Ability to work outside of standard working hours as there may be work required on nights, weekends and holidays as needed
