Job Overview
Comfort Food Community (CFC) is seeking a dedicated and organized Food Recovery Coordinator to support our mission of reducing food waste and increasing food access. This role involves working closely with staff and volunteers to recover surplus fresh food from farms, retail partners, and local food vendors, aggregating these resources, and distributing them through our network of community partners.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a regular pickup and delivery schedule in coordination with the Food Recovery Manager.
- Communicate with program partners to ensure expectations are met and maintained.
- Organize and direct Food Recovery volunteer activities, such as pack-outs and gleaning events.
- Assist with harvesting or picking up surplus food from farms and vendors.
- Weigh, record, track, and input data for monthly reports and other required documentation.
- Support food transportation, washing, storage, and inventory management to ensure safe and efficient food distribution.
- Provide backup support for the Food Recovery Driver, including retail partner pickups and deliveries to partner agencies.
- Obtain and maintain ServSafe certification (or willingness to complete upon hire).
- Train and model best practices in food safety for volunteers across all aspects of food recovery.
- Perform other duties as assigned and provide support to other CFC programs as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience and demonstrated ability to fulfill job responsibilities.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as packing, loading, and delivering food.
- Clean driving record with no serious infractions in the past three years.
- Must be comfortable driving a box truck and pass a driving assessment to demonstrate safe operation of large vehicles, including loading, maneuvering, and delivery.
- Comfortable using manual and power pallet jacks.
- Proficiency in technology systems such as Asana, Microsoft Excel, and SharePoint.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, organizational, and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to independently structure and prioritize tasks, projects, and deadlines.
- Commitment to excellent customer service.
- ServSafe and GAP certification are a plus.
- Must be available Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:15 am to 2:15 pm.
