What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plumbing Apprentice 1 position at Comfort Systems USA Mid South?
We are seeking a reliable and responsible individual to join our team as a Plumbing Apprentice 1. In this position you will support commercial construction projects by installing plumbing systems and related materials.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with commercial plumbing installation from underground/rough-ins, stack out to trim outs on large scale commercial and industrial construction projects such as, healthcare, government, educational, manufacturing, data centers and others
- Install hangers and supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installation for water, gas, compressed air, medical gas, or other liquids
- Regular use of basic hand tools and ability to read a tape measure
- Assist with the installation of materials such as copper, steel, cast iron, PVC, CPVC, PEX, and other piping
- Duties could include assisting with setting grease traps, decontamination tanks, oil interceptors, lint interceptors, utility hookups, etc
- Able to work off ladders, man lifts and other equipment from various heights
- Perform other related duties or special projects, as assigned

Skills needed from the Ideal Candidate
- 3 years of commercial plumbing experience preferred
- Current / valid apprentice license in applicable state
- Willingness to learn to read blueprints and shop drawing
- Knowledge of basic and tools and ability to read a tape measure preferred
- OSHA 10-hour preferred
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Basic math skills include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, to perform routine measurements and calculations. Ability to work with fractions, percentages, and decimals.

- Ability to stand, squat, bend, kneel, climb, and comfortably lift up to 50 lbs
