Command Electronics is a family-owned manufacturer and distributor of 12-volt lighting and accessories serving the recreational vehicle, agricultural, cargo trailer, marine and truck industries. Command is a domestic manufacturer: 80% of our products are made at our plant in southwest Michigan. We have injection molding capabilities as well as expertise in wire harnesses and general assembly. Our company is seeking a Junior Purchasing Agent to join our team. Job Summary:
As the Junior Purchasing Agent, you will be responsible for sourcing equipment, goods and services and managing vendors. The successful candidate will be able to perform strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of spend, search for cost savings, and develop new supplier relations. A strong interest in international sourcing is paramount to the success of this role.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Collaborates with other departments and leadership to identify and develop needs and requirements for equipment, materials, products, and acceptable substitutions.
· Assesses current material availability; reasonably predicts future availability based on the market, delivery systems, and other variables.
· Prepares and presents market conditions and material cost reports.
· Prepares and processes purchase orders and requisitions for materials, supplies, and equipment.
· Drafts, explains, and implements instructions, policies, and procedures for purchasing and contract management.
· Evaluates and approves conditions for issuing and awarding bids.
· Resolves grievances with vendors, contractors, and suppliers.
· Maintains and/or implements purchasing and recordkeeping systems.
· Acts as the company’s representative in negotiations with suppliers.
· Coordinates removal or disposal of surplus materials.
· Forecasting/Planning and scheduling for 12-16 months in the future.
· Annual Spend $6-$8 million

Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
· At least three years of experience in related field preferred, not required if recent graduate
· International Purchasing experience helpful
· Experience working with China and Taiwan is a plus.
· Microsoft Dynamics GP experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
· May require travel

Pay: $58,048.00 - $61,532.00 per year
