Engineering technicians help engineers design, develop, test, and manufacture industrial machinery, consumer products, and other equipment. They may assist in product tests by setting up instrumentation. They may make sketches and rough layouts, record and analyze data, make calculations and estimates, and report on their findings. When planning production, mechanical engineering technicians prepare layouts and drawings of the assembly process and of parts to be manufactured. They estimate labor costs, equipment life, and plant space. Some test and inspect machines and equipment or work with engineers to eliminate production problems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Work closely with engineering
2. Record test results, procedures, and inspection data
3. Recommend modifications to production standards to achieve optimum quality to meet engineering intentions
4. Assist in the creation of charts, graphs, and diagrams to illustrate workflow, routing, floor layouts, material handling, and machine utilization
5. Interpret engineering drawings or schematic diagrams, to build various fixtures or machines/equipment
6. Recommend revision to methods of operation, material handling, equipment layout, or other changes to increase production or improve throughput
7. Study time, motivation, methods, and speed involved in maintenance, production, and other operations to establish standard production rate and improve efficiency
8. Perform a wide variety of manufacturing engineering duties to assist in the design and plan layouts for complex manufacturing processes
9. Analyze and recommend new methods and procedures, tool designs
10. Address and resolve problems that affect product quality
11. Assist in planning sequences of operations and specifying procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance
12. Assist in training production staff in new methods and procedures
13. Observe and analyze applied methods, and offer recommendations in the area of improvement to bring about work simplification and cost reduction
14. Maintain all required records and documentation
15. Work with Manufacturing Engineers to build per design; tooling, fixtures, and/or machines and equipment.
16. Apply manufacturing theory and principles to problems of production and plant layout under the direction of manufacturing engineering.
17. Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Associate’s degree in a engineering/technical field
· 1-2 years experience in a manufacturing environment in a technical role
· Minimum 5 years manufacturing work related experience
· Knowledge of ISO13485 or other regulated industry requirements
· Incumbent must be highly motivated, results oriented, and be able to meet goals and objectives.
· Other abilities are outlined below:
Ø Technical writing abilities required
Ø Knowledge of raw materials and their application
Ø Basic understanding of computer systems and MS Office applications
Ø Understand purpose of SOP (standard operation procedures) and know how to follow them
Ø Understand purpose of manufacturing Work Instructions and know how to follow and/or assist in creating them
Ø Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings
Ø Ability to read and understand electrical schematics
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Varying from a good working conditions in office environment with regular exposure to manufacturing areas to somewhat undesirable working conditions with exposure to fumes, noise, grease and dirt, with no element continuously present to the extent of being disagreeable.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
