JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: PROJECT ENGINEER II
LOCATION: AUBURN HILLS, MI
OBJECTIVE
The function of the Project Engineer II role is to assist the project team with scheduling, project buyout, estimating, document control and management of self-perform and subcontractors. Project sizes typically range from $25,000 to $10,000,000 USD and may include a combination of construction management, general contractor and design/build type projects. Some travel may be included in the role.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Document controls maintained and updated as needed: pre-construction documents, submittals, RFIs / DCRs, punch list(s) & closeout.
- Assist with project scheduling (Microsoft Project /Primavera).
- Assist with project buyout.
- Assist with project startup.
- Draft letters of intent, purchase orders and master sub agreements as needed.
- Ownership of project submittal process.
- Draft submittal log for PM review.
- Process submittals from vendors & subs; maintain submittal log throughout project.
- Verify shop drawings.
- Communicate status of submittal to Project Manager & team.
- Assist with estimating (budgets, bulletins, and change request/field order quotations).
- Assist with management of self-perform and subcontractor scope coordination with field supervision.
- Assist with job cost tracking & management.
- Assist with project closeout.
- Maintain positive and open relationships with customers.
CORE COMPETENCIES
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering or equivalent.
- 2-4 years’ experience and/or internship with a GC/CM organization.
- Excellent communication, planning and organizational skills are required.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Knowledge/experience with Microsoft Office suite, FTP sites and document control programs.
- Experience with SAGE, Procore or Pro Log preferred.
- Travel may be required.
