Job Description:
The Maintenance Apprentice will be responsible for assisting the maintenance team where needed while following best safety practices and procedures. Additionally, the Maintenance Apprentice will be expected to internally develop mechanical, technical and industrial skills and education to fill future Maintenance Mechanic and Millwright positions by using mechanical tools such as wrenches, pliers, screw drivers, hammers, drills, saws, various measuring devices and other tools required for the job.
This position will work closely with fellow team members and supervisors.
Responsibilities:
· Read shop drawings
· Perform basic industrial math such as measuring and simple math
· Clean and prepare surfaces to be welded
· Prepare and complete reports
· Perform basic pipefitting
· Repair basic power transmissions
· Fabricate machine guards
· Detect and replace worn bearings and seals
· Redirect pneumatic or hydraulic lines
· Assist in machine lubrications
· Perform basic machining
· Keep work areas clean and orderly
· Adhere to safety procedures
· Assist others in the maintenance department as required
Skills & Qualifications:
· Mechanically inclined
· 0-2 years of electrical and preventative maintenance experience preferred
· Ability to understand measuring tools and simple math
· Experience working with electricity A.C and D.C equipment such as motors, generators, controls, switches, circuit breakers etc. preferred but not required
· Experience working with a variety of mechanical hand tools such as wrenches, pliers, screw drivers, hammers etc. preferred
· Ability to work with others
· Welding experience preferred
· High School Diploma preferred
· Must have your own tools
Physical Demands:
· Ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or holding your arm in one position
· Ability to quickly move your hand anduse your two hands to grasp, manipulate or assemble objects
· Ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time
· Ability to exert strength to lift, push , pull or carry objects
Working Conditions:
This position will be primarily on the production floor in various conditions.
