Overview
We are seeking a skilled Molding Set-up Technician to join our manufacturing team. 2nd and 3rd shift positions are available now! We are growing this year, and need to add additional headcount!
The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background and experience in plastics injection molding processes. This role is essential in ensuring the production of high-quality plastic components while maintaining safety and efficiency in the workplace. Pay rate will be based on experience and ability to answer job specific questions. But not less the $20 starting rate attached to this description.
Duties
- Ensures that the production process runs smoothly, information is maintained and adjusted as needed, including continuous communication.
- Follow Production Schedule to meet Customer requirements.
- Performs tool maintenance at the direction of the Shift Supervisor and/or Process Tech.
- Regularly monitor and interpret the daily injection schedule to anticipate all mold changes and work ahead as needed.
- Maintain organization of molds and equipment for easy retrieval, taking every precaution to minimize damage and loss of production time.
- Make all necessary adjustments for proper mold set up at the press for immediate operation including change of piping as needed.
- Responsible for setting up auxiliary equipment (i.e.: chillers, thermolaters, fixtures, supplies, mold heaters, watering diagrams, etc.) and safely removing prior mold and auxiliary equipment from the press.
- Follow Set-up checklist by setting next mold and ejection core sequence as per Commercial Plastics mold set up sheet.
- Must perform Lock Out/ Tag Out (LO/TO) procedures as required.
- Clean the area and press after machine set up is completed before releasing it to production.
- Ex: mopping up water, removal of hoses or clamps, and put in designated area).
- Report any out-of-spec conditions with mold or machinery immediately to Shift Supervisor or Process Tech.
- Identify tools with proper tagging requirements and completing Tool Room work orders (WO)
- Pull process settings from machine memory for each mold.
- Must stone platens upon the removal of molds and place in properly designated locations.
- Operate the forklift and pallet jacks safely and successfully.
- Use a variety of large hand and bench tools, including an overhead crane to set up processing equipment in a safe manner.
- Performs housekeeping functions in molding and assembly department including tool preventative maintenance, machine cleaning and manufacturing floor cleaning in safe manner.
- Participate in ensuring total facility and manufacturing, safety, and housekeeping regulations
- Trains new and existing Set Up Techs in the performance of their duties and tasks.
- Follows work instructions, process books and quality procedure for performance.
- Ensure all documentation is completed consistently, accurately and timely on an on-going basis.
- All other responsibilities or duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- HS degree (post high school course work, or trade school preferred) or/and 2 years relevant experience.
- Working knowledge of computer software programs (Excel, Word), OSHA regulations and standards, ISO 9001 standards.
- Demonstrated basic knowledge/skill in following areas: mechanical, electrical, plumbing, hydraulic, pneumatic, process water systems.
- Troubleshooting skills, basic understanding of processing skills, and basic math skills
- A Certified fork truck driver, within the last 3yrs is preferred.
- A valid drivers license is required.
- Must have tools to perform the given task to set up all molding equipment, tools or machines.
- Must have the ability read, write and speak English.
Physical Requirements/Working conditions
- This position will require ongoing walking, sitting, standing and handling of production parts.
- Lifting product, boxes, skids is require (up to 55lbs)
- exposure to noise, dust and fumes. Non climate-controlled facility.
