The responsibility of the Field Lead is to coordinate daily activities and support field operations and be a role model for the operators that is consistent with GOM Shelf / Commodore Offshore Operating philosophy and goals. The Ops Lead must also be a conduit for feedback to the Production Superintendent and Field Foreman with respect to performance of operators and third-party personnel concerning their execution of work and ability to do so in conformance with GOM Shelf / COOL expectations. The Ops Lead must have a strong presence in the field making rounds with a goal of visiting each platform a minimum of every 2 hitches.
The Ops Lead must possess the knowledge, skills, and capabilities to function as coordinator of daily activities in large fields along with providing troubleshooting & problem-solving expertise.
Roles and Responsibilities
General Philosophy
- Convey to support staff GOM Shelf / COOL general operating philosophy that safety takes priority over all else, by leading by example. Visit platforms as directed by the Field Foreman and / or Production Superintendent (FF / PS).
Safe Work Practices / JSA's / Operating Procedures
Coach personnel on application of SWPs by actively participating in development of permits by visiting job sites and walking through the process with personnel. Provide resources to those who need additional assistance with SWPs (e.g. get HSE involved)Be a resource for operators in the development of JSAs; visit job sites and assist in the development of specific work JSA's for upcoming tasks. Help identify hazards and provide mitigation guidance.Planning & Field Cost Tracking
Assist with logistics coordination to optimize cost.Facilitate daily and weekly planning with Field Foreman & PIC's including prioritization of work.Debrief on the day's work with Field Foreman & PIC's (Lessons learned, good and bad)Assist Field Foreman & Production Superintendent with budget forecasting.Schedule 3rd party and utilize their services throughout the entire field for efficiency when able.Regulatory compliance monitoring
Monitor regulatory compliance for respective area. This includes, but not limited to BSEE paperwork.Validate safety system integrity and testing procedures.Help to identify device trends (positive and negative).Manage action items to completion with accountable personnel.Monitor SEMS related compliance through quarterly spot checks in GOM Shelf SEMS PORTAL.Incidents
Assist in compiling incident investigation information at the direction of the Field Foreman / Production SuperintendentThe Ops Lead will assist the Field Foreman to verify that action items related to incidents, or safety alerts are adhered to for their respective area.Compliance
Witness operators perform compliance testing on the deck with operators and provide feedback when neededSpot check to ensure PINC lists are being reviewed on facilities routinely by both operators and compliance techsMOC's
Assist operators to close out action items related to MOC's and ensure MOC's are generated when necessary.o Review open MOC's and communicate what is required to complete it to the operators.
Planning
Coordinate Field activities to ensure efficient operations by tracking forecasted activities on 7-day planner for construction, drilling and production operations.Alert FF of situations where there is a lack of coverage regarding using third party contractors efficiently.Production Optimization
Provide feedback to FF and PS regarding operational issues with facilities. Visit with platform operators at least once per hitch to understand what can be done to make the facility safer / more efficient.Spot check operators to ensure well tests are being conducted appropriately and timelyHelp operators troubleshoot equipment when needed and provide feedback to appropriate personnel (FF / PS / rotating equipment specialist) before problems escalate.Communications and Working Relationships :
