Common Ground Community Builders is an integrated development, construction and maintenance company serving the midcoast region of Maine. We are looking for a foreman to plan and lead the work on our residential and light commercial job sites.
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Foreman to lead carpentry and finish crews in the field. This role requires the ability to manage multiple tasks on the construction site while ensuring quality control, safety and adherence to project timelines. The Foreman will act as a liaison between the project manager and the construction crew, ensuring that all work is completed efficiently and safely.
Duties
- Manage daily operations on the construction site, ensuring that all activities are carried out according to project specifications.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers .
- Utilize project schedule and three-week lookahead schedule to plan work for each week.
- Prepare and communicate daily work plans to team members.
- Help with recruiting and retaining carpenters and craft laborers.
- Conduct regular quality control inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and project specifications.
- Communicate effectively with team members, providing guidance and support to ensure successful work completion.
- Train laborers and carpenters in specific construction skills necessary for completing the work.
- Address any issues or conflicts that arise on-site promptly, maintaining a positive working environment.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in performing carpentry work in residential or light commercial construction. Ability to perform other trade work, such as concrete and finish trades preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Relevant certifications in carpentry, other trades, or safety training are preferred.
