Overview
This position is responsible for overseeing various types of excavation work. Employee must be able to do full site layout in accordance with plans and specifications. Directing and managing all onsite construction workers, subcontractors, and equipment. This position requires a blend of leadership, technical knowledge, and hands-on experience.
Key Responsibilities
· Thorough knowledge of planning, layout, and execution of excavation, backfill, and installation of underground utilities to include various types of water, sewer, drainage systems, and precast structures
· Strong ability to read drawings and specifications
· Manage and coordinate the work of construction workers & subcontractors. Assign tasks, provide guidance, and monitor their performance.
· Maintain project schedules, ensuring timely completion of all phases of the project.
· Inspect and review work to ensure it meets the required quality standards and project specifications. Address any defects or discrepancies promptly.
· Proper Management to allocate resources, including labor, materials, and equipment, to maximize efficiency and productivity on the site.
· Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations. Conduct regular tailgate safety meetings and ensure a safe working environment.
· Competency in working with deep excavations requiring the use of trench boxes and other earth support systems
· Legibly complete daily site paperwork and field reports
· Serve as the primary point of contact between the site and managers, architects, engineers, and clients. Facilitate clear and effective communication to resolve any issues or concerns
· Manage winter plowing field operations of commercial accounts
Qualifications and Skills
· Proven experience as a site foreman or in a similar supervisory role in the construction industry. Experience with civil construction projects is preferred.
· Strong understanding of construction processes, methods, and materials.
· Maintain multiple pieces of Trimble GPS & traditional survey equipment.
· Ability to use GPS, GPS Machine Control, Total Station, Pipe Laser, etc.
· Excellent leadership and organizational skills. Ability to motivate and manage a diverse team of workers and subcontractors
· Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick, effective decisions under pressure.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Meticulous attention to detail to ensure high-quality work and adherence to project specifications.
· Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks as required.
· Maintain a clean job site·
· OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certified; Preferred
