Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the Director of Finance, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for all productivity management functions including productivity development for the annual budget; oversee capital approval processing and reporting, including interfacing with the Corporate Accounting fixed asset team: support the development of weekly, monthly and annual operating projections; provide financial analysis and budget support to department managers throughout Mercy Medical Center. Provide support with special project requests from either the Director of Finance or the Administrative team.
Reviews all capital equipment purchases and construction in progress and reconciles. Reviews all capital-related reports prepared every month. Recognizing the responsibility of each department director: offers
suggestions when questions occur relating to capital purchases.Supports the development of management productivity reports.
Supports senior management in the development of business plans, financial forecasts and projections, and other ad hoc reports as they may arise from time to time.
Supports the development of the annual budget, including updating and maintaining the Axiom budgeting system. Work with the Operation Assistance Group to ensure the budget reflects desired labor targets.
Assists with the preparation of external, internal, and regulatory audits as requested.
Attends meetings as required and participates on committees as directed/requested.
Performs other duties as directed/requested.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Mathematics with an IS emphasis, or four (4) years of experience in a health care finance environment will take the place of a bachelors degree.
- ABility to use MMCM Information Systems resources including: PC application software (e.g. MS Excel, MS Word, MS Access), LAN and Internet Access in a productive and constructive manner, (experience with Lawson), Project management experience.
- Must possess the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Able to work effectively with co-workers across all levels of the organization and with outside customers such as physicians, System Office personnel, vendors, etc.
- Must possess technical and professional skills and demonstrate familiarity with information system capabilities and procedures, particularly advanced functionality with Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet programs.
Preferred:
- Demonstrate an analytical and creative approach to problem solving. Demonstrate motivation and initiative and use good judgement. Be highly organized and able to conduct multiple projects at any given time. Be able to cope with stress of deadlines, meet deadlines and demonstrate accuracy in work produced.
