Job Overview
The Billing Specialist is accountable for performing duties related to the behavioral health billing for the designated program(s) and location(s) rendered by Commonwealth Clinical Group, Inc. The Billing Specialist will be responsible for coordinating with department and program personnel, communicating effectively with payers and using technology for the implementation of data and general business operations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Ensure billing is accurately submitted to insurance entities through the companys electronic software
- Execute billing for the designated program(s) and location(s)
- Manage remittance claims to resubmit errors within five (5) business days and coordinate problematic claims with the Billing Coordinator
- Provides the Billing Coordinator with monthly reports on billing activities for the designated program(s)
- Collaborates in problem-solving any insurance or billing issues that arise with the assistance of the Billing Coordinator
Education & Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent required, Associates degree preferred
- Certification in Medical Billing / Coding preferred
- One (1) year experience in an office setting preferred
- Proven experience providing billing clerk responsibilities (minimum 1 year)
- Need energetic, warm, self-starter with strong customer service skills
- Excellent communication skills (phone and email)
Required Skills:
·Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) is a must. Must have a good understanding of Excel formulas and functions. Must be able to work with multiple spreadsheets simultaneously.
·Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential; ability to communicate with individuals in all levels of the organization in a professional manner at all times is essential. Ability to work independently or as part of a team is a plus; ability to work effectively with others is a must. Strong organizational skills are required; ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment is required; ability to work well under pressure is a plus.
