Specialist will be in an office environment but will require some travel. Specialist will be training personnel on policies, provisions, and guidelines regarding the access of the Criminal Justice Information System. Specialist will maintain a positive support of all Criminal Justice Information Systems users.
Key Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:
- Under supervision, conducts compliance audits of Link/NCIC full access agencies, inquiry only/mobile agencies, technical security, non-criminal justice agencies that submit fingerprints for background checks to ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations.
- Submits written recommendations and suggestions to supervisor to improve the operation of all CJIS systems.
- Works with other Compliance staff members and supervisors for training lesson plans and tests.
- Reviews newsletters, technical & operational updates, NCIC manual revisions and additional correspondence.
- Effective communication and time management skills
- Adaptable to changes in State and Federal policies
- Knowledge of Criminal Justice Information Systems, specifically Criminal History Information
- Detailed oriented, able to maintain a focus on compliance standards
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Must complete two years (54 semester hours) from a college or university.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have three years of law enforcement, criminal justice or law enforcement telecommunications experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional college will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two years.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional experience in law enforcement/criminal justice or law enforcement telecommunications will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification. Pursuant to the CJIS security policy, applicant shall not have been convicted of any felony crimes. Must attend and successfully complete the CJIS full access terminal operator course administered by the Department of Criminal Justice Training within the first six months of employment.

Probationary Period
