The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions operates 13 correctional facilities that house Kentucky's adult inmate population. The mission of DOC is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior.
We are seeking candidates for a Human Resource Specialist within the institution. This position provides professional level Human Resources work in the areas of Personnel and Payroll processes.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: One year of professional experience in personnel administration, business administration or management.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Current or prior military experience will substitute for the required college on a year for year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working Conditions
Incumbents working in this job title perform duties in an office setting. Minimal travel may be required.

We are seeking candidates for a Human Resource Specialist within the institution. This position provides professional level Human Resources work in the areas of Personnel and Payroll processes.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To The Following
- Ensure the day-to-day operation of the Personnel Department.
- Assist with resignations, promotions, and the request for registers to fill vacant positions.
- Ensure vacant positions are posted in timely manner.
- Oversee registers, schedule interviews, drug tests, background checks, personnel actions and assist with hiring of new employees and contract employees.
- Process employee of the month and supervisor for the quarter.
- Collaborate with Human Resource Specialist I to ensure ACA files are completed in a timely manner and meet standards.
- Work with Human Resource Specialist I in the review of Annual Performance Evaluations.
- Serve as backup for the payroll officer.
- Assist staff with daily HR needs to include health insurance open enrollments, assisting staff with career site and applying to jobs, etc.
- Take phone calls from staff and route appropriately.
