It is the mission of the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives to provide information access for the citizens, businesses, and agencies of the Commonwealth. To help the state maintain its competitive edge, the department offers comprehensive services which assure that our clientele has access to information resources: virtual, physical and human. As one of 10 state agencies in the country to combine library, archival, and public records programs, the department is uniquely positioned to meet these needs.
We are seeking a charismatic and customer service-oriented individual to join our team as a Librarian II-KDLA.
The Duties Include But Are Not Limited To
The successful candidate for this position will have experience and knowledge of library services and systems. A passion for information literacy and a dedication to quality customer service is highly preferred.
This position will have access to confidential and sensitive information. The successful candidate will be required to ensure the safeguarding and security of all confidential and sensitive information and will be required to complete trainings, sign acknowledgements, follow all policies and adhere to all statutes and requirements pertaining to the safeguarding and security of confidential and sensitive information while employed and after employment ends.
The Education and Labor Cabinet (ELC) participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the United States. EWDC will only use E-Verify once you have accepted a job offer and completed the Form I-9.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a master's degree in Library Science.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Two years of professional library experience.

The Duties Include But Are Not Limited To
- The position will be responsible for family literacy related grant projects working with the Office of Adult Education and other partners.
- Will assists in recruitment of participants and preform the marketing of the program.
- Provides guidance to applicants during and throughout the grant process. Monitors end results and reports outcomes to all agencies.
- Provides consultative services for new literacy related tools and resources to public library staff, trustees, regional and statewide consultants, and professional organizations.
- Helps promote these resources to all libraries.
- Assists library staff with marketing strategies to community members.
- Works cooperatively with literacy related organizations and partners including contacts from other cabinets, libraries, and education.
- Facilitates training with other consultants and specialists that have a literacy focus.
- Assists with KDLA special projects such as Spring into Reading, Dolly Parton Imagination Library, and special events that highlight literacy related programs for youth, families, and adults.
- Represents the agency at events and conferences.
- Creates related materials such as newsletters, bookmarks, articles, and social media promotion of the programs.
- Attends partnership meetings and public events to build relationships and to encourage the sharing of information.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
