Primary Role: This Network Analyst II position will support the Kentucky State Police Northern Communication Region which includes Posts 4,5, 6, and 12. The technician will be part of a small team that will be required to maintain the radio network, remote radio sites, and the associated radio consoles within the Northern Region. Additionally, the technician will be required to maintain all mobile radios, radar systems, data routers, sirens, and lights. The technician will be required to work Monday through Friday and will be on-call 24/7.
Key Responsibilities:

Additionally, the technician will be required to maintain all mobile radios, radar systems, data routers, sirens, and lights. The technician will be required to work Monday through Friday and will be on-call 24/7.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performs analysis of a complex terrestrial, omnidirectional, wireless, 124 site communications network including design, planning, implementation, operation service, and support of digital transceivers, routers, switches, consoles, PCs, modems, and end user hardware.
- Installation, modification, repair, and maintenance of peripheral end-user devices/interfaces with KSP networks/systems.
- Oversees procurement, inventory, and customer needs assessment.
- Conducts training sessions on equipment maintenance procedures, radio and radar operations and other sub-system programs.
- Responsible for design, planning, implementation, operation service, and support for other KSP critical networks/systems including (not limited to) VoiceOver IP telephony 911 PBX, computerized detection systems, multiplexed point-to-point, video, and satellite/terrestrial mesh networks.
- Provides Project Management for complex network projects in the form of initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing the work of a team of in-house staff, communications utility providers, and various technology vendors to achieve specific goals and meet criteria of network system transitions and migrations.
- Maintains documentation of network configuration.
- Evaluates and recommends forms and record design, test procedures, problem reports from customers, etc.
- Reviews, prepares and maintains operational records and reports including daily activity reports, time sheets, equipment inventory, system status reports and other technical and administrative reports for technicians' use statewide.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Five years of experience maintaining communications systems
- Ability to work as a team and independently
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree, OR, graduate of a college or university with an associates degree in electrical engineering.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: One year of network analysis experience OR two years of experience in computer programming, network technician services, systems analysis, systems support, or production support.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Related technical or vocational training will substitute for the bachelor's degree requirement on a year for year basis. A master's degree in computer science or electrical engineering will substitute for one year of the required experience.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in computer programming, systems analysis, systems support, network services, or production support will substitute for the bachelor's degree requirement on a year for year basis. Current or prior military experience will substitute for the required college (bachelor's) on a year-for-year basis.

Work is typically performed in an office setting.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
