The Division of Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) Education & Training is seeking an OSH Safety Consultant I in the Partnership Program Branch. This position will perform beginning-level duties in the surveys of workplaces to detect safety hazards and to assure compliance with occupational safety laws and regulations.
Duties of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
This position will have access to confidential and sensitive information. The successful candidate will be required to ensure the safeguarding and security of all confidential and sensitive information and will be required to complete trainings, sign acknowledgments, follow all policies, and adhere to all statutes and requirements pertaining to the safeguarding and security of confidential and sensitive information while employed and after employment ends.
The Education and Labor Cabinet (ELC) participates in E-Verify. It will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S. The Cabinet will only use E- Verify once you have accepted a job offer and completed Form I-9.

The Division of Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) Education & Training is seeking an OSH Safety Consultant I in the Partnership Program Branch. This position will perform beginning-level duties in the surveys of workplaces to detect safety hazards and to assure compliance with occupational safety laws and regulations.
Duties of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Through observation of experienced Occupational Safety Hazards (OSH) Safety Consultants, will perform safety surveys to identify violations of OSH Standards/rules/regulations for public & private employees, both general industry & construction settings.
- Assists in preparing detailed comprehensive technical reports.
- Researches technical OSHA regulations and travels throughout the state.
- Learns required details for inclusion in reports of safety inspections.
- Learns to develop training programs for the enhancement of safety in the workplace.
- Conducts safety inspections under close supervision near the end of the training period.
- Attends training/conferences/seminars/formal schools.
- Learns to operate and interpret results of various technical instruments and equipment.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree OR an associate's degree in Occupational Safety and Health.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: NONE
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in applying OSHA regulations to the workplace will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Current or prior military experience will substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Working Conditions
Work is generally performed in an office setting when preparing reports or evaluating inspections. When conducting workplace inspections or consultations, employees in this job title are exposed to the same working conditions as those employed at the workplace. May be exposed to potential hazards which may require the following of safety precautions.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 12 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
