DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Field Investigator, you will conduct furlough investigations and criminal records checks on all furlough sponsors. In this position, you will maintain case files, prepare written reports, and compose letters to judges and facilities providing investigative information. Other duties will include maintaining a logbook and contacting various agencies to ascertain any concerns regarding the re-entrant's furlough request. You will also identify problematic areas and provide input to staff regarding furlough considerations, as well as report any suspicious, threatening, non-compliant, or otherwise out-of-the-ordinary behaviors or situations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 2 days per week with approval. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will be required to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Three years of experience in public contact work, including two years of experience in field investigation or law enforcement work; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
