THE POSITION

Do you want your skills in the preparation, review, and analysis of fiscal information to support a team that strives to reduce recidivism, while respecting victim rights? The Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Somerset is seeking a motivated and well organized individual to join their team as a Fiscal Management Specialist 2. This position serves SCI Somerset and will report to work in the office at SCI Laurel Highlands. Help provide the fiscal control our programming, education, and mental health services need to create success, inside and out!

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will work closely with the business manager and purchasing staff. Your responsibilities will involve accounting, budgetary, and fiscal reporting requirements for SCI Somerset’s general, education, and medical funds. This includes compiling data to monitor expenditures, prepare budgets, and develop annual projections; completing fiscal and accounting functions as the account advancement custodian; and overseeing the documentation and reporting necessary to interpret and communicate all fiscal data in the budgetary process for final audit. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment. 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year as a Fiscal Management Specialist 1; or
  • One year of experience in professional fiscal administration, and a bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics, or a related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements
