DESCRIPTION OF WORK
You will play a crucial role in protecting lives and property on the Middletown Airbase. You will be involved in performing a variety of tasks, including structural and aircraft firefighting, conducting fire prevention inspections of buildings and aircraft, and ensuring the proper functioning of fire protection systems. You will also be responsible for standing watch at operations within buildings and aircrafts, monitoring alarm receiving equipment, and participating in training programs to constantly improve your skills and knowledge. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work schedule is 24 hours on duty and 48 hours off duty, Sunday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirement:
- Three years of firefighting experience as a member of a municipal or governmental fire department and possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Special Requirements:
- You must be in possession of an active non-commercial class C Pennsylvania driver’s license or equivalent.
- You must be in possession of an active Firefighter II certification and an Airport Firefighter certification from an organization accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications.
- You must be in possession of an active Hazardous Materials Operations certification and an active Hazardous Materials Awareness certification.
- You must initially and annually be medically certified as meeting the medical requirements of the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) 1582, Comprehensive Occupational Medical Program for Fire Departments.
- You must obtain within one year of hire and maintain an active class B Pennsylvania commercial driver’s license or an active certificate of authorization to operate fire emergency vehicles issued by the Fire Chief of the hiring fire station.
- You must obtain within one year of hire and maintain active Driver/Operator Pumper, Driver/Operator Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighter (ARFF), and Driver/Operator Mobile Water Supply certifications from an organization accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications.

You must possess a valid federal or state-issued photo ID and pass a favorable NCIC screening for admittance to Middletown Airbase.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- You must be willing and able to work in Middletown Airbase (Dauphin, County).
- Successfully pass a background check to obtain and maintain Secret Clearance.
