DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will undertake various technical responsibilities related to the inspection of materials and workmanship on highway construction projects within Engineering District 9-0, ensuring compliance with approved construction codes, plans, standards, and specifications. Your tasks will encompass the inspection of all phases of transportation construction activities. Additionally, you will support the verification of grades, elevations, and the layout of structures and roadways in collaboration with contractors and surveyors. You will also inspect the application of materials, including cement concrete, bituminous concrete, drainage materials, and other relevant substances, while conducting compaction testing using a visual non-movement method for sub-surface strata, soils, and aggregates.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Hollidaysburg
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $44,890 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
- One year as an Engineering Technician (commonwealth title); or
- Two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (commonwealth titles); or
- Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or
- Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or
- One year of construction inspection experience, and an associate’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirement:
- This position requires possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver’s License or equivalent.
