The role:
Bring your engineering experience to our construction office in
Region 3: Southwest Oregon
! In this role, you will inspect construction materials for quantity, quality and conformance to specifications, you will record characteristics of materials, inspect contractors' work and review, organize and record data received from other inspectors. Not only will you play an important part in planning and inspecting projects, but you’ll also help prioritize safety for crews and the traveling public. Apply today!

A day in the life:
  • Read and understand contract plans and specifications for construction projects.
  • Inspect and document work performed by contractors.
  • Check quality and quantity of materials, grade and equipment.
  • Review the progress of contracts for compliance with specifications.
  • Check field notes and calculate excavation quantities.
  • Review contractor paperwork and reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Complete timely commercial useful function reviews.
  • Enforce erosion control conditions and ensure other environmental requirements are met by the contractor.
  • Review plans and specifications during project design to identify errors.
  • Work is performed in the field 70% of the time and may require moving around rough terrain, working in adverse weather, working near heavy traffic and construction equipment, working at heights up to 50 feet and working over large bodies of water.
  • May require working overtime, night and weekend shifts, lifting up to 50 pounds and overnight travel.

Minimum qualifications:
Five and one-half years (66 months) of sub-professional engineering experience.
OR
An associate's degree in engineering technology from a recognized community college or technical school of engineering and four years of experience directly related to engineering.
OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience (such as a bachelor’s degree in engineering plus two and one-half years’ engineering experience).
Special qualifications:
Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
