Nestled in the scenic mountains near Michaux State Forest, South Mountain Restoration Center is a skilled nursing home facility that provides long-term care and is operated by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining boilers according to manufacturer guidelines to meet the center's steam requirements. You will manage, adjust, and maintain the necessary equipment for steam generation, including auxiliary machinery and control systems. Additionally, you will serve as a lead worker overseeing semi-skilled utility plant staff.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 40-hour work week
  • Shifts will be assigned based on operational need. The following shifts are available:
    • Position #1 - 2nd shift (3:00 PM to 11:00 PM), Monday - Friday
    • Position #2 (Relief Operator) - swing shift between 1st shift (7:00 AM to 3:00 PM), 2nd shift (3:00 PM to 11:00 PM), and 3rd shift (11:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
  • Sunday - Saturday, with rotating days off and no unpaid lunch break for employees in these positions.
  • Overtime: As needed
  • May change based on operational needs.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year of experience as a Utility Plant Operator 1 (commonwealth title); or
  • One year of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes six months of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment.

Special Requirement:
  • You must possess an active Class C motor vehicle license.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
