Do you want to help make a difference with children and families in their day-to-day life events? If so, Luzerne County Children & Youth Services is looking for people like you to join their team. There is an immediate need for an Intake County Casework Supervisor in the Children, Youth, and Families agency. Located in Northeastern Pennsylvania, Luzerne County Government offers many exciting and challenging opportunities to learn and grow in a career while making a difference in the lives of Luzerne County families. 

The primary responsibility of the supervisor of the Child Protective Services Unit is programmatic direction regarding all reports/referrals of suspected child abuse in Luzerne County. You will be expected to have a working knowledge of all regulatory and policy/procedure mandates and maintain statistics as outlined in the Luzerne County Children and Youth Services Case Weight and Monthly Statistic Reporting Policy. You will also monitor the effectiveness of services provided through statistics and log keeping and will inform the Social Service Coordinator of service delivery issues or needs. Other requirements include, but are not limited to, frequent and regular review and analysis of case records, evaluation of staff performance, participating in planning and providing in-service training activities to meet the training needs of the workers, and to disseminating new and updated regulations and policies.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 1 day per week based on business needs. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Wilkes Barre. 
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of professional experience in public or private social work and a bachelor's degree with major course work in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and education which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.

 

Other Requirements:

  • This particular position also requires you to possess a valid driver’s license which is not under suspension.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
