DEP Engineering Intern - Pottsville District Mining Office (College)

The intern in this role will acquire hands-on experience by supporting staff engineers and geologists in assessing the effects of mining activities on water resources. Responsibilities will encompass the collection and organization of hydrological and engineering data. Additionally, the intern will aid in the evaluation of permitted mining locations and, as required, assist investigators from the Bureau of District Mining Operations at the Pottsville District Office with site investigations and research on mining history.

• Full-time internship that will run from 5/1/2025 through 8/29/2025
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, on a schedule that aligns with the supervisor. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pottsville.

QUALIFICATIONS
Internship Requirements:

• Current full-time enrollment in a bachelor's degree, or advanced degree program in one of the following majors:
  • Environmental Engineering
  • Engineering
• An approved major course of study at an accredited college or university
• Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher)
• Freshman year completed
• Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university

• This position requires possession of a valid Class C non-commercial driver's license.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
