What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Agent position at Commonwealth of Pennsylvania?
In this position, you will assist in addressing the needs of the District and County by engaging in comprehensive purchasing activities, which include reviewing requisitions, preparing bid documents, evaluating and awarding bids, and drafting contracts and purchase orders. All tasks will be executed in accordance with the purchasing policies and procedures established by the Department, as well as the relevant laws and regulations of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Your responsibilities will involve effective communication with requisitioners, receivers, vendors, district office fiscal and purchasing personnel, the Comptroller's Office, and the Office of Chief Counsel. You are expected to provide exceptional and courteous customer service, foster collaboration, propose enhancements to processes, and advocate for a safe working environment.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Work hours are subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years of experience in purchasing work involving contact with vendors in the procurement of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, or services; or
- Three years of experience in requisitioning, receiving, storing, distributing, and maintaining inventory of goods; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training. Post-high school education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for purchasing or stores experience to a maximum of two years.
